14th FINA Diving Cup

Tony Ally, Mark Shipman, Peter Waterfield, Leon Taylor, Tandi Gerrard and Jane Smith have all qualified for the Olympic Games in Athens later this year, with strong performances at the 14th FINA World Cup, also held in Athens.
Ally and Shipman have qualified for the 3m Synchro after achieving 6th place with 301.89 points. Both had already gained automatic qualification in the individual event.
Peter Waterfield and Leon Taylor, who were fourth at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, gained automatic selection for this year's Athens games with a second place in the Platform Synchro event, scoring 366.81 points to finish less than 15 points behind the Chinese duo of Tian Liang and Yang Jingthui with the Canadian pair of Alex Despatie and Philippe Comtois finishing third with 354.06pts.
In the Mens 10m Final, Taylor finished 6th with a score of 662.97 points. Peter Waterfield also secured Britain a second place in the same event, finishing in 13th place on 599.97.
Tandi Gerrard and Jane Smith finished 6th in the Womens 3m Synchro with a score of 296.67 points, securing the final place at Athens, and beating the seventh-placed American pair by just half a point.
Karen Smith and Monique McCarroll finished twelfth in the 10m Platform Synchro but were 26 points below the qualifying score for the Olympics.
