Spring Masters 2004

I can hardly believe that we have got to the 2004 events already, it hardly seems yesterday that we were organising the Winter event. Anyway, I’m glad to tell you that the 2004 Spring event is being held in Sheffield, on the weekend of the 20th and 21st of March. Adam Sotheran has managed to organise this for us again, so many thanks to Adam and the Sheffield Club.

While we have the pool organised, we are still working on the evening function, but rest assured it will be to our usual standard, but it won’t be at the Bridge this year!

Attached you will find entry form, medical information form and conditions for this event. We have tried make the event as relevant as possible for divers going to Riccione in the summer and are therefore follow what is effectively the FINA dive test. However we are trying to keep our standards up, so there are a few additional requirements. I think this dive test offers a reasonable challenge to most divers. We have also allowed divers in the Highboard event to use 10 metre up to age 59, though anyone planning to dive in Riccione in this group should bear in mind that FINA will not allow 10 metre for the over 50 age groups.

Please can you fill in your entry forms and return them, together with the entry fees to Lesley as soon as possible. You will notice a small addition to the entry forms this year and that is a signature. With the insurance companies requiring that we do a risk assessment of all events, it seems sensible to ask all divers to confirm that they are fit enough to dive and that they can actually do the dive test for the competition they have entered in safety. I know that this will seem stupid to many people, but unfortunately it’s the age we are now living in.

We are suggesting that divers use the Grosvenor House Hotel in Sheffield as the main base. This hotel is part of the Corus group and they currently have an offer on rooms that is very good for divers staying for two nights. To take advantage of this offer contact the booking centre on 0845 300 2000 and quote ‘Double Delights’. The hotel also offers rooms at the following Rate for a single nights occupancy Single room £ 45.00, Double room £62.00 and Triple room at £ 85.00. Directions Exit M1 (J33) and take A57 to Sheffield City Centre. Take 3rd exit at 1st roundabout (Park Square) and 2nd exit at 2nd roundabout (just past the station).
