I can hardly believe that we have got to the 2005 events already, it hardly seems yesterday that we were organising the Winter event. Anyway, I’m glad to tell you that the 2005 Spring event is being held in Edinburgh for the first time. I’m sure that Scotland will provide as memorable an event as Dublin did.

While we have the pool organised, we are still working on the evening function, but rest assured it will be to our usual high standard.

Above you will find entry form and conditions for this event. We have worked to keep the conditions challenging but also relevant to the competitions abroad this year and also to keep within the time available to us at the pool. I don’t want to run over time again, nor to start on the Friday which is the other option open to us.

Please can you fill in your entry forms and return them, together with the entry fees to Lesley as soon as possible. You will notice a small addition to the entry forms and that is a signature. With the insurance companies requiring that we do a risk assessment of all events, it seems sensible to ask all divers to confirm that they are fit enough to dive and that they can actually do the dive test for the competition they have entered in safety. I know that this will seem stupid to many people, but unfortunately it’s the age we are now living in.

There are a number of hotels available to us, though unfortunately Edinburgh is a popular destination which predictably makes accommodation rather expensive. We are still working on deals which will be posted on the web site should we secure them, but in the interim, and baring any success in this area, we are suggesting:

The Lady Nairn Travel Inn (Edinburgh East) 0870 977091 The Lady Nairn will not be able to offer any inclusive breakfast rates, purely because they naturally fill very easily. They are very close to the competition venue and their room rate is £46.95 per room, per night.

Another convenient hotel is Travelodge in St Mary's Street
~ £35 / night / person in a shared twin room
~ 15 mins walk from Commonwealth Pool, just off the Royal Mile
~ optional breakfast £6.50 extra
~ parking by day is free at Commonwealth Pool. By night there are plenty of free roadside spaces.
You can book a room by ringing 0870 1911 637.

As soon as we get the entries in we will confirm the programme, but the outline will be:

Saturday
Start at approx 9.30
Ladies 3 metre and Mens 1 metre
All Platform events
Sunday
Start at 09.00
Mens 3 metre and Ladies 1 metre

I look forward to seeing you all there.
