FINA Masters Conditions Debate
4th January 2004
Since the new conditions were introduced by FINA, many masters divers have expressed the view that international competitions are no longer challenging enough to justify the effort and expense of travelling abroad to attend these events. This view was justified by the low attendance level at the European Championships last summer.
You can see the current rules here. Briefly: there are 7 dives for the youngest men, going down to 3 dives for the ladies 80+ age group, with no restrictions on groups.
The GBDF and the U.S. Masters organisation are hoping to put a proposal together for a new set of conditions to submit to FINA. The subject is being discussed both on the USA Masters Diving message board under "Another Plan of Attack", and on our GBDF forum. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
