GBDF Insurance Provision for Members

Please note a member of an Affiliated Club is not covered unless they have also registered individually with the GBDF.
Members must be UK residents for some aspects of the Insurance.
There is limited cover for members over 70 years of age.


Civil Liability Insurance

Entitled to Indemnity:

The GBDF and all its affiliated members.
Indemnity is provided to members who are UK residents only.

Cover:

The main features of the insurance are:

Professional Indemnity – Loss, financial or otherwise, arising out of Errors and Omissions – Bad advice
Libel and Slander, including ‘defamation’ – which is vital in relation to the consequences of allegations of abuse.
Directors and Officers Liability.

Operative time:

Any Authorised/recognised activity of the GBDF.

Limits of Indemnity:

Civil Liability £5 million any one occurrence
Product Liability £5 million in any one period of insurance

Personal Accident Insurance

 

Insured:

Affiliated members of the GBDF.

Cover:

The benefits are payable if during the operative time in any period of Insurance the Insured Person suffers accidental bodily injury which within two years is the sole cause of Death or Disablement or incurring of medical expenses for which the benefit is claimed.

Benefits:

Death £2,000
Permanent Total Disablement from gainful employment or gainful occupation for which fitted by education, training or knowledge £30,000
Loss of limb(s) and sight of eye(s) £30,000
Medical Expenses necessarily incurred in the treatment Of the insured person (maximum 104 weeks) £100

Note:

   There is no permanent total disablement cover for those over 70

  

Operative time:

Whilst participating in any activity of the Insured anywhere in the world including direct travel to and from such activity with Great Britain, N. Ireland, The Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

Principal Exclusions:

Injury arising out of:
A] illness, disease, HIV, suicide
B] the taking of a drug which is not lawfully available
C] flying other than as a passenger
D] war, invasion
E] any person aged 75 or over
F] undertaking the sport against medical advice

Other Insurance Considerations

 

Claims Notification Requirements:

The Insurers shall be given immediate written notice with full particulars of any claims or circumstances which may give rise to a claim.

Every letter, claim, writ, summons and process in connection with such circumstances shall be forwarded to the Insurers immediately on receipt.

Written notice shall also be given by the Insured to the Insurers immediately the Insured shall have knowledge of any prosecution, inquest or inquiry in connection with any circumstances which may give rise to liability under this Policy.

The Woolf Reforms:

Every incident, particularly those involving personal injury, must be reported immediately it happens, as strict time limits are now in place for the handling of claims.
