7th January 2009: Perhaps you should look at the ISRM guidance notes that are in their draft for on the front page of the site under 'facilities'. This was put out to pool management as guidance for safe public use. There is no need for a missed dive to be a 'spinal incident' on any board up to 5m. If they want to, they could speak to Peterborough where we have got the boards re-opened after 8 years. From a financial viewpoint, having the boards open could get at least £8k additional income from opening the boards to the public through the additional people who would come in, especially youths.
28th October 2008: This pool, has the policy that nobody outside of a diving club environment should use the boards, on the basis that a missed dive off either height must be treated immediately as a major spinal incident. i.e.if diving clubs want to book them then fine, but Jo Public has no chance! Incidentally there is no current diving club that uses this pool, or none that I am aware of. Maybe if a club is established there then it might thrive? - Paul
17th December 2006: The Stevenage Swimming Centre apparently had a major facelift a few years ago. What have they done that's so different? I first started swimming here over 30 years ago, but I see no difference to the pool from then! Surely with a town becoming so densely populated, the people in charge of the so called redevelopment could have done a better job! How about some slides for the youngsters? Why are we not allowed to use the Diving boards? Need I ask more?
17th February 2006: What's the point in having a diving board if we're not allowed to use it? All the younsters want to use it. - Lisa
6th March 2005: It might be worth noting that despite the presence of a 1 and 3 meter spring board at Stevenage Pool, there is a policy that they are never to be used. Apparantly, I was told they were not safe. This is a terrible shame, as they appear fine, and so the Pool loses a major attraction to local youngsters - Dave
